NORTH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COUNCIL
From the 1st April 2021, the councils of Corby, East Northants, Kettering and Wellingborough will merge and be replaced by a single unitary council named North Northamptonshire Council.
Following a six-week consultation period and approval by the Future Northants Shadow Executive Committee on 3rd February, a new North Northamptonshire Keyways Housing Allocation Scheme will apply from 1st April 2021.
All current active Keyways applicants and the active housing applicants of East Northamptonshire District Council will be contacted to take part in a re-registration process in March to enable a new assessment to be carried out in line with the new North Northamptonshire Housing Allocation Scheme.
Applications already submitted and pending verification will continue to be assessed in line with existing allocation policies, however, those made active will still be required to complete the re-registration process mentioned above.
Due to the current high demand for social housing and short period of time until the new North Northamptonshire scheme is launched, it is highly unlikely that any new applicants will secure an offer of accommodation prior to re-registration unless there is an urgent housing need.
For this reason and to prevent new customers from being required to complete two housing applications in close succession, we kindly ask all NEW applicants to consider whether they wish to delay an application until the system for North Northamptonshire is accepting new applications which we expect to be in mid to late March. This announcement will be updated once the exact date is determined.
Households who require rehousing urgently should contact their respective council that they intended on applying to for further advice.
