By law, we must publish a document that explains who can apply for social housing in the Borough and who gets priority. We must show who qualifies to join the register and how we make sure the people in the greatest need are housed. We do this through our Housing Allocation Scheme.
It is important to review the scheme annually to ensure it remains fit for purpose and accurately reflects current housing need in the Borough, ensures best use of housing stock is realised, supports the Local Authority to continue to meet duties owed to households and also accommodates new legislation.
Kettering Borough Council have launched a public consultation on the review of our Housing Allocation Scheme and we welcome your comments.

The Housing Allocation Scheme is reviewed annually to ensure it remains fit for purpose, accurately reflects current housing need in the Borough, ensures best use of housing stock is realised and supports the Local Authority to continue to meet duties owed to homeless households.
Whilst the current Housing Allocation Scheme was only adopted in October, the implementation of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 legislation from the 3rd April 2018 means that some minor alterations are required to ensure that it complies with the new legislation. Please find attached a copy of the proposed scheme.
Today we have launched a 4 week consultation on the proposed changes and would welcome your views. You can submit comments by email to HousingOptions@kettering.gov.uk (please title the subject response - Housing Allocation Scheme) or alternatively write to us at:

Please ensure all comments are sent back to us by no later than Wednesday 28th March 2018. |
