SHELTERED ACCOMMODATION IN NORTH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE
Sheltered housing is accommodation for older adults - typically over the age of 55 or 60 - who want to live independently while having access to support and assistance when needed. This type of accommodation is not suitable for individuals with high care and support needs.
This can range from self-contained flats or bungalows, some of which are located within a scheme that includes communal facilities such as a laundry or a communal lounge.
In all sheltered housing, you will have your own front door. In some schemes, there is also a door entry system at the main entrance. These schemes use fob access to enter the main door. The entry system in your property will allow you to open the main front door without leaving your home.
Many of our Keyways Landlords have sheltered accommodation within their stock which will be advertised via Keyways. The criteria for each scheme may differ from landlord to landlord.
You can find a link here to the North Northamptonshire Council Sheltered Accommodation handbook which provides information on a wide range of issues such as paying your rent, repairs and maintenance, neighbour relations, tenant involvement, and who you need to call if you want to request a particular service.
Applicants who bid on sheltered accommodation may be subject to further assessments conducted by the landlord if they are nominated. These assessments will evaluate factors such as support needs, suitability and risk issues, in accordance with the individual landlord’s policies.
